Soundrenaline 2018: Style Report

A glimpse inside Indonesia's music scene.  I often relate how people dress up to what they listen to    —  because that's also how I dress up every morning, and this event is a good example to prove that. What I love more about festivals is that it's not really like usual concerts, I get to see a fusion of people dressing up differently and that's a direct visual representation of the music they listen to. Way back before blogs and instagram is a thing, before the word ' personal style blogger ' even exists, I often found my inspiration to dress up at the music festivals I went to. There would be cool chicks at senior school concerts, watching indie bands and sporting quirky outfits I won't see in the mall or anywhere ( the kind of outfits you will see displayed on Topshop mannequins even before Topshop opened their first store here ), later I found out because it was vintage. So here I am at the Soundrenaline Festival, bringing my writing from my own room

Tokyo Nostalgic Clubbing

Sneaking into Tokyo's oldies dance party called 'Showa Kayo Night'. It was Wednesday night when a friend of mine who lives in Tokyo, Deby, texted us when are we doing this Thursday night. She found this event roaming around her Facebook page, a disco party playing 50's - 80's Japanese pop tunes (Showa era) for people at all age group, mainly for nostalgic purpose. I'm staying in Tokyo for a whole month vacation with zero plan ( as how I always do it ) and just play it by the ear every single day, so ' dancing all night with cool elderly ' is an easy ' Yes! ' for me. On the day, we dressed up according to the respective era and meet at Shibuya to jam to the oldies tunes. It was a magical time machine as we entered the full packed bar with  ¥300 entry for us to dance all night, with Japanese grandmas, aunties and uncles karaoke-ing to all the songs they knew by heart. Here is our experience, including showing up at the local news on a drunk intervi

Breakfast in Paris.

I didn't take that many videos and photos during my Europe trip and I found this snippet of our kitchen routine a.k.a boyfriend making breakfast, and me watching and munching anything he put into my meal. He loves cooking and we did grocery shopping and cooked almost everyday during the trip. That morning I filmed him preparing sandwich and yapping about fresh ingredients we got at the supermarket next door ( he was so happy about it ). Happy Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day Styling & Interview: Mom & Dad

It's almost Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day at the same time, and as I was sitting with my parents I thought when could be a better timing to interview them about the day full of love (and luck!), ask them about their personal style, and do a laid back photo shoot with them.  My mom and dad was never the matchy-matchy couple, so this time I dressed them up in a pastel color coordinate outfits, while I wear the more daring color coordinated pieces  (but still going for Dad's oversized red sweater because I choose comfort over everything)  which I can use for both Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day.  As the Chinese New Year celebration is strongly identical with luck, I managed to do a little research and channeling my inner feng shui master to find out of what is the lucky colors to wear on the big day, and the answer is: red, yellow, green, followed by  warm earthy colors like orange, beige or brown. So if you're not really a fan of bright red or your hipsteri
